American Structurepoint's Construction Solutions group is seeking an entry-level Construction Inspector/Engineer in Columbus, OH. In this role, you’ll play an important part in supporting transportation and utility projects. Your responsibilities will include reviewing plans, observing construction activity, tracking progress, and performing basic material testing - all while collaborating with contractors and project teams.

Responsibilities

What you will do: 

  • Inspect construction work on transportation and utility projects to make sure everything meets the right standards - helping keep communities safe and connected 
  • Work closely with contractors, designers, utility companies, and local residents, gaining real-world experience in communication and teamwork on active projects 
  • Keep organized field records, including daily reports, measurements, and calculations that track progress and ensure accurate payment 
  • Get hands-on with material testing - like checking soil compaction and concrete strength - to ensure quality and durability 
  • Use software tools such as Microsoft Office, Appia, SiteManager, and BlueBeam to document and manage project details efficiently 
  • Take on additional responsibilities as assigned to support project success and gain exposure to various aspects of the construction process 

 

Qualifications

Qualifications: 

  • Recent or soon-to-be graduate with a degree in Civil Engineering or a related field 
  • Valid driver’s license  
  • Strong work ethic, eagerness to learn, and willingness to take on new challenges 
  • Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in the field 
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specs, and standards 
  • Interest in learning construction administration software like AASHTOWare Project and/or Appia 
  • Familiarity with or enthusiasm for Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Bluebeam. 
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions and able to perform physical tasks like lifting, standing, walking, or stooping for extended periods
