American Structurepoint’s Investigative/Forensic Engineering Group is seeking candidates to join us for our summer internship program in Indianapolis, IN! As an Investigative Engineering Intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience both in the field and in the officeassisting with investigations of damaged buildings, assessing structural conditions, and helping design repair solutions. You’ll work alongside licensed engineers and architects, contribute to technical reports, and use tools like AutoCAD and Revit to create drawings and models.

Responsibilities

What you will do: 

  • Work alongside senior team members to investigate damaged or deteriorating buildings and structures - like being a detective for architecture and engineering 
  • Help develop repair and restoration plans for structures made of wood, masonry, concrete, and steel - bringing old buildings back to life 
  • Contribute to technical reports that document findings and solutions—sharpening your writing and analysis skills 
  • Use AutoCAD and/or Revit to create digital drawings and models that support investigations and repairs 
  • Other tasks as needed to support the team 

 

Qualifications

Qualifications: 

  • Student majoring in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related program with a focus on Civil Engineering 
  • Reliable personal vehicle and valid driver’s license for travel between job sites 
  • AutoCAD and/or Revit experience is a plus 
  • Strong work ethic, good communication skills, and eagerness to learn and take on new challenges 
  • Ability/Willingness to climb ladders and scaffolding, work from heights, walk roofs, access crawl spaces and other areas of limited accessibility
