Group: Planning and Economic Development

Position: Landscape Architect- Project Manager

Location: Indianapolis, IN

 

Our growing urban planning and landscape architecture group helps our clients stay ahead of the curve and find unique and innovative solutions to everyday problems. Our planning group specializes in both rural and urban redevelopment planning, sub-area plans, urban design projects, strategic investment planning, economic development, and general land-use planning. We work and collaborate with the planning group on these endeavors on a regular basis as well join forces with our architecture, civil, infrastructure, road and bridge, and structural groups.

 

Our team is looking for a Landscape Architect project manager responsible for urban design projects, downtown and community revitalization plans, corridor plans, parks and trails master plans, and comprehensive and strategic plans.  These project management responsibilities will also include developing budgets and schedules, client interactions, and managing junior staff production time.  This position will also assume responsibilities within the civil group to coordinate site and landscape plans with their engineers (schematic through construction documents).  Additional duties may include preparation and facilitation of public meetings and workshops, public and client presentations, economic and demographic analysis, and land-use analysis and research.

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects and efforts in:
    • Special area master plans
    • Parks and Trails Master Plans
    • Alternative transportation plans
    • Public engagement and participation
    • Site and Landscape Improvement Plans and Specifications
    • Planting Plans
  • Project management duties will also include:
    • Client Management
    • Construction budgets and cost estimation
    • Ensuring budgets and deadlines are met
    • Assist with business development activities, general marketing strategy, and preparation of responses to RFPs and RFQs.
  • Assist with design and planning process duties including:
    • Data gathering/data analysis/synthesis
    • Graphic communications:  renderings, plans, maps, diagrams, presentations materials (digital, boards, reports)
    • Visioning and goals development
    • Economic and demographic data research/analysis
    • Public meeting/outreach support/engagement
    • Development standards and ordinance writing and development.
  • Provide support to other departments in the company with planning related projects (marketing, outreach and public involvement, project development)

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited university program
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of Landscape Architecture
  • Project management experience required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google SketchUp, and ArcView GIS  
  • Working knowledge of Adobe design software (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and AutoCAD/Civil 3D
  • Must be highly motivated and possess the ability to work independently on concurrent projects in a fast-paced professional environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Indiana Landscape Architecture License preferred
  • Ability to travel when needed, about 30% to Ohio or Indiana for project or conference related work.
