Group: Planning and Economic Development

Position: Junior Landscape Architectural Designer/Architect

Location: Indianapolis, IN

 

The Staff Landscape Architectural Designer is a production position responsible for assisting other landscape architecture and urban planning group members in preparing various types of plans, reports, graphics, and construction documents for a wide variety of project types. This position might also assist other departments in the company with planning and design-related projects. Additional duties will include support in areas such as fieldwork, communication, and research.

Responsibilities

Provide design and drafting support to the landscape architecture staff. Work includes site layout, planting plans, and construction details.

 

Provide support to other department members in preparing various types of plans, reports, and projects, including:

  • Comprehensive and neighborhood development plans
  • Redevelopment and site master plans
  • Parks and Trails master plans
  • Both public-sector and private-sector projects
  • Provide support to other departments in the company with planning-related projects (marketing, outreach and public involvement, project development).

 

Assist with design and planning process duties, including:

  • Renderings, both digital and hand
  • Site plans, maps, and diagrams
  • Presentation materials (e.g., boards and reports)
  • Writing
  • Public meeting/outreach support/engagement

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a four-year Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited university program
  • Must be highly motivated and possess the ability to work independently or on a team in a fast-paced, professional environment
  • Self-motivated and a problem solver
  • Excellent written, oral, and graphic communication skills
  • 2 to 5 years experience in the field of Landscape Architecture
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, and Adobe design software (e.g., PhotoShop, InDesign, Illustrator)
  • LandFX and SketchUp experience preferred
  • Excellent organization and time management skills

Performance Measures:

  • Amount of successful collaboration with staff members
  • Quality of support provided to other departments and staff members
  • Production technical skills and abilities
