We are seeking a Team Leader to provide operational leadership, technical oversight, and business development support for a roadway design team within the Road Group. This role is responsible for leading project execution, developing staff, and managing client relationships. The ideal candidate is an experienced roadway engineering professional who excels at mentoring staff, leading multidisciplinary teams, and building client relationships.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a roadway engineering team responsible for project delivery, technical excellence, and staff development.
  • Oversee project schedules, budgets, staffing, workload balancing, and deliverables to ensure quality and profitability.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, coaching, and problem-solving support for engineering staff.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings, workload planning, project reviews, and performance discussions.
  • Review plans, specifications, reports, and other project deliverables for technical accuracy and compliance with company and agency standards.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Group Leaders, and technical staff to allocate resources and ensure successful project execution.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients, agencies, contractors, and industry partners.
  • Support proposal development, interviews, and fee development, alongside marketing and leadership.
  • Participate in go/no-go decisions and assist with strategic planning for targeted pursuits.
  • Lead staff performance reviews and support staff professional development plans.
  • Identify process improvements that enhance efficiency, quality, and client satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in roadway engineering and project management.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong understanding of DOT, municipal, and transportation design standards.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to balance technical leadership, operational management, and business development responsibilities.

 

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching as required.
  • Ability to lift up to 10–15 pounds.
  • Regular, reliable attendance and punctuality.
