    Position: Project Engineer

    Location: Indianapolis, IN

     

    We offer the opportunity to work in a team-oriented, multi-discipline environment to produce exciting, diverse projects using state-of-the-art software. Project Engineers work under the direction and mentoring of Project Managers and are expected to be proficient at all of the tasks performed by Staff Engineers, and must also be proficient at:

    Responsibilities

    • Directing the work of, and mentoring Staff Engineers
    • Understanding gravity and lateral load resisting systems and defining complete load paths
    • Accurately defining applicable loads and load combinations applied to structures
    • Designing complete gravity load framing systems and foundations
    • Designing lateral load resisting systems (braced frames, moment frames, shear walls and diaphragms)
    • Developing job-specific details for unique conditions (i.e. “detailing”)
    • Breaking down complex design and analysis tasks into “first principals” of engineering
    • Writing technical specifications
    • Attending project meetings to coordinate structural requirements with clients and other disciplines (independently as appropriate)
    • Coordinating structural design requirements with other project disciplines (Architecture, Civil Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing, etc.)
    • Performing field observation site visits to observe and document status of structural projects and conformance to the design intent
    • Coordinating with and responding to RFIs from contractors during construction
    • Delegated Project Manager tasks (under the supervision of Project Manager/Structural Project Directors as appropriate)
    • Possessing a thorough understanding of Structural Group Standards (General Notes, Specs, and Typical Details)

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree or above in Civil Engineering (structural emphasis preferred)
    • Passed either the NCEES Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam or the NCEES Structural Engineering (SE) exam (SE preferred)
    • Possess engineering licensure in at least one state
    • Minimum of 4 years of relative experience (Advanced degree can be considered as relative experience)
